See the story at http://my.firedoglake.com/cgrapski/2011/10/09/american-standard-editor-a...

This is important information on what happened at the Air and Space Museum and the intentional involvement of a Conservative Magazine's editor in an effort to discredit the movement.

Please pass this information on.

Signs of a society transitioning to a police state:

* Unprovoked use to police force/violence

* Disproportionate use of police force/violence

* "pre-emptive" use of police force/violence because of what "might" happen, later on.

"they entered the museum in a group" (legal) and planned to speak out against or otherwise protest in some unknown way (legal or unknown) at the museum, so we used violence against their organs of sight, in mass form, including getting at least one passerby's organs of sight violently assaulted by us.

* De facto criminalization of what is, on paper, legal behavior: when you cannot even stand on a side-walk as a completely peaceful participant or even as a completely peaceful observer or sometimes, even as a completely peaceful media reporter (treatment of Amy Goodman's staff and later of Goodman herself; and many other journalists then and now)

* Cultural normalization in the media and citizen expectation of regular use of completely unprovoked, unnecessary, or disproportionate use of force (fencing off of a legal protest group) or violence (pepper spray, beating etc) so that becomes "the new normal" in people's minds.

Etc. Add your own items to this list. Just look around you.

Imagine visiting another planet where there is a society of mentally intelligent snail-creatures, and seeing the snail-police use such unprovoked, unnecessary, "preemptive" spraying of salt-water on their fellow creatures who peacefully assemble to nonviolently demand an end to the massive trillion-dollar wars of snail-slaughter, and salt-bombing of entire snail countries in the snail-Middle-East who have some precious snail-resources buried under their sand, while taking those hundreds of billions, more than a trillion dollar, away from the basic living needs - food, housing, education, health - of their own domestic population.

By the way why does the for-profit Snail-Hollywood glorify snail-on-snail violence? And video games too?

Meanwhile, back on the ground, the foul stench of the Snail Police and Snail Storm-trooper's salt-water sprays are still in the air..along with the strench of creeping neo-Corporate-Fascism...

* *

But we cannot fight hate with hate, we cannot fight violence with violence..violence is a virus whose spread we must stop rather than perpetuate.

We must build the alternative society starting today. "The future will only contain what we put into it now" -1968

We can start building alternatives to Wall Street, world-wide, one community/region at a time:

(organizers of october2011.org and others can contact us via that site as well)

"We want structures serving people, not people serving structures"

Pledge

"I would like to join the online community of October2011/OccupyWashingtonDC so that I will receive email updates and be part of the movement to nonviolently resist a corporate-driven war-and-Wall-Street government that exploits people and the planet for the 1%. ."
