Hundreds of activists gathered on Freedom Plaza in Washington, DC, on Thursday to fight for economic and social justice. The event is called Occupy DC or October 2011, one of the dozens of similarly-named rallies occurring across America—from Los Angeles to Chicago to Boston tocollege campuses. The movement of Occupy protests began with the ongoing, massive Occupy Wall Street demonstration in New York City.
