Freedom Plaza Is Now Ours
And we're never giving it back. Our permit for Freedom Plaza in Washington, D.C., expired, we refused to leave, and the Park Police has just proposed to let us stay for four more months.
We've agreed. We have not said that when the four months are over and the American Spring is here we will leave.
In fact, we intend to make it possible for anyone to visit D.C. with free accommodations. Just bring a sleeping bag and agree to work with us to pressure Congress, the White House, K Street, the Pentagon, and all the lobbyists and profiteers for peace and justice. We have free food, we have free drink, we have free trainings and seminars, we have tents, we have peace keepers, we have a big victory under out belts, and we welcome all peace makers for they shall inherit Freedom Plaza. We own it. It is ours. It shall remain ours world without end.
The Taste of DC food festival just gave us all their remaining food. Or at least all the individual booths did. Ben and Jerry's just endorsed us. Busboys and Poets just fed us. Businesses that support us will be honored and supported by 99 percent of this country.
So, here's the plan: Bring us your reports from around the country at your local Occupations. Fill us in here in the Empire's Capital. We will fill you in too. We will train and inspire and connect you with the rest of this global movement. Then go back home energized. Come down from New York and go back up. We need to coordinate on a personal level.
Our brothers and sisters in McPherson Square have a growing occupation too. Join them. Join us. We're family. We disrupted the work of the NSA today, and the Association of the Army's convention at which our women had generals crawling under tanks to avoid cameras. We shut down a celebration of Christopher Columbus as well.
And Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. sharp in Our Freedom Plaza we will set off to "welcome" Congress back to town. Join us. We are legion.

I am very worried about the granting of four more months. I fear it is a way of trying to belittle and ignore us. I will be there as much as I can. I was there from Wednesday night until sunday morning. I expect to be there before dark Wednesday night. Thursday morning at the latest.
We must outlast them and not let them forget about us as we face winter in the Plaza.
I am still thinking for the brighter side of their action granting us another 4 months. This is a good sign. This means, we are still important and looking forward for a longer time. I'm sure they will consider our sacrifices. I was there and will always be.

Could it be that the police and the city officials realized it would be a bad idea to assault violently a peaceful gathering, while all the world's eyes on them?
Maybe.
But maybe also the police also realize that they are among the next who will be downsized if the vicious circle taking all oxygen from democracy and to Corporate Feudalism is allowed to continue (true, the Corporatocracy loves a police state and will not want to shut down all police..but cutting benefits of police officers, keeping pay down? So more is there for Corporations? Heck yes, they'd do that to the police!)
Maybe a little bit of each of those reasons..or a lot of each, and other reasons...a great victory and thanks for sharing the news!

I just tried to watch the live stream, which is not currently running. While I fully support the Occupy Movement, I find it a little disturbing that it seems you are funding the live stream with corporate ads. Every time I want to watch, I must sit through advertisements trying to get me to BUY things! Seems a little hypocritical...

I certainly share your concern about using anything that puts more corporate threads around us. But is it really hypocrisy? By definition it is hypocrisy if they, on the one hand, say they want to reduce corporate power, but on the other hand, really don't care, or really don't even bother trying, to reduce it, in the area of streaming..but what if they did try and look for alternatives? In that case, instead of hypocrisy it's Illustrative of the reality.(just like if there are NO small business restaurants and NO coop restaurants in an area, so you resort, in that area, to eating at a corporate restaurant, that doesn't mean you don't believe what you say, but it illustrates what Needs to Change...)
If you know of alternative and equally powerful (or at least close to equal) for streaming, by all means share it..I say this not to disagree with you...I would love to go 100% noncorporate, coop, etc...I even get anti-war updates sometimes from someone with a juno . com account and the bottom of their emails has adverts, which saddens me, but I still appreciate their (informative) occasional emails..I just don't want us to get into a huge argument about it if there are not many alternatives..
But if your goal is to bring up the issue and suggest we/people/someone at least look for alternatives which do not have corporate ads, then I'm 100% with you on that! :-)
I was somewhat skeptical but thanks to people with more courage and faith than I have, we have started another successful occupation. I just finished visiting yet another successful start of an occupation in Allentown.
The occupy movement is growing in cities, large and small, throughout the country. Don't the politicians eventually have to get the message? Americans are not happy with the state of the US, and they need to listen.

Thanks for the good news! Protesters: The pressure is off for a bit. Open your minds to strategy that creates unity and will make it easy for the rest of America to support effective action.
Let constitutional ideals, facts and law lead you and America will support you. Seriously, no one is talking about this and it is HURTING your movement, and we need you as effective as possible, it's our movement too. We support you and your intentions.
American government has been infiltrated. The concept of our system is okay and is has had a degree of constitutionality that would grow and serve us well IF we could see the law of the land enforced. Please, do not think that any other law can replace it without MAJOR conflict. Knowing that should, logically make it possible to start learning about it or finding those amongst you that do know it. The infiltration has made our government system to appear unworkable and created massive complexity where it need not be in order to intimidate and deter efforts to correct it.
Ignore that stuff. The principles of the constitution are real support for humanity and all life. Capitalism does not get placed over life no matter what the nwo has made it appear like.
Our communication systems are disabled for the peoples need and only serve corporate interests inline with the nwo agenda. Accordingly, REVISE the First Amendment to allow Americans to inform and educate Americans with truths media will not utter.
Currently, we are free to speak. But, there is no way to support speech vital to survival built in to guide us. We assume we know-but, the "dumbing down" deprives us of a great deal and the nwo agenda has set up academia to teach politics that cannot mobilize Americans past the division the nwo with media created. I do not know who Christopher Brown is but the message above is incoherent at best. Don't know who the NWO is, but I do know this. I was there Oct 6 and will be back next week, sleeping bag and a backpack that hasn't seen action since 1995 in tow. Thank you thank you thank you for bringing a spark to a dulled spirit.
